The sound installation “Retour aux sources” by Mouawad Laurier, a duet composed by Maya Mouawad and Cyril Laurier, has been showing since 18 September and will continue for the next ten years at Maison Ruinart in Reims. This poetic sound work, brilliantly combining artificial intelligence and nature, functions like a vital organ nestled in the chalk caves of the Champagne House, 30 metres underground. Like a root, the work restores nature to the heart of perception and animates data specific to wine making and the seasons, such as air temperatures, and by so doing, highlighting how global warming is afflicting champagne. A partner of the main contemporary art fairs and initiator of cartes blanches for leading and committed artists like Liu Bolin and Vik Minuz, Ruinart is taking a step head with its double commitment to contemporary artistic creation and the environment.
