Heike Munder, director of the Migros Museum in Zurich, Switzerland and Suad Garayeva-Maleki, director of the YARAT Contemporary Art Space in Baku, Azerbaijan, are the two curators of a two-part exhibition devoted to environmental issues. Starting with a critical analysis of the linear and productivist approach adopted by humans to exploit nature, the first part is entitled Potential Worlds 1: Planetary Memories. Inaugurated on 7 March in Switzerland, it invites visitors on a futuristic journey through the different forms of life on earth. What will nature look like in half a century? The artists invited to explore these possible futures, from the most dystopian to the most resilient, are figures of ecological art like Maria Thereza Alves as well as remarkably innovative young artists like Monira Al Qadiri and Jakob Kudsk Steensen.
